Easter 2011

This past weekend was Easter weekend. I had planned on taking Aubrey to the big outdoor Easter egg hunt at Anchorage City Church, but the weather took a turn for the worse. It was so muddy after recent rain and the temperature had dropped that I decided against it. Kyle took off for the day to head down to the shop and work on his axles so I decided this would be a perfect year to try dying eggs for the first time with Aubrey. We had a great time and I look forward to making it a yearly tradition with the girls!

When we finished decorating Aubrey finally got to eat one! Yum!

Aubrey decided to read sissy a book...and sissy thanked her with a big smile!

We opened baskets in the evening, although Aubrey spotted where I had hid them on top of the refrigerator earlier in the day. Aubrey's basket was filled with a coloring book, toothbrush, big girl undies, and some candy. Kyleah's included a book, toy, and some candy as well.

We are so thankful for the blessings we have received and look forward to many more Easters to come with our girls!

March 2011

Now that my computer is finally fixed I think I may be able to post on my blog! *fingers crossed*

I am hoping to be able to post monthly to keep everyone updated on what's going on in the Virgin household.

March was a busy month. Our second baby girl surprised us with her 2 1/2 week early arrival via c-section on February 26th at 4:19pm. Kyleah Beth was 7lbs 13oz and 20.5in long...exactly the same as her big sister Aubrey was at birth! My doctor joked that my body could only handle them up to that point and then it booted them out.

Since her arrival I have kept busy as a stay-at-home mom and plan to continue doing that until the girls start school. However, I am still going to continue coaching high school gymnastics for 3 months in the fall. Kyle has begun work for Granite Construction here in town again this year.

We decided to take each of the girls for a photo session with Karen Kulin, who shot Aubrey's newborn photos. Aubrey decided to once again not make things easy for her. Kyleah, on the other hand, was a perfect angel.

On March 11th Aubrey turned 2. I can't believe how fast time flies! With all the commotion surrounding the arrival of Kyleah we decided against a birthday party this year. Kyle and I took her to Red Robin for a birthday dinner. Normally she enjoys when the employees sing to people for their birthday and even claps along. I thought she would enjoy them singing to her, but boy was I wrong! She does not like being center of attention and surrounded by strangers! She did enjoy the free sundae that came with all the attention though!

Later in March Kyle's grandpa, Joe Virgin, got some news from his doctors that he was in need of not one, but two major surgeries. He needed a heart surgery as well as a kidney removed. They went ahead with the quintuple bypass first. His recovery was slow at first, but then things started looking up and they released him to home health care. All of a sudden out of nowhere things took a turn for the worse. He is currently in the Adult Critical Care Unit on full life support. Joe is very much loved and this has been hard on not only his family, but also all of those people whose lives he has touched.
