Vaccines

Yesterday i took Aubrey in for her 2 month check up. She is growing like a weed!! She weighed in at 10lbs 13ounces and measured 22.25inches long. That puts her at about the 50% for both of those categories. However, her head measured 37cm which only puts her in the 10% for that. I guess she didn't get her daddy's overly large head!! Haha. It was time for her first round of shots and i think it was more stressful for me than it was for her. She cried while she was being stuck, but stopped as soon as i picked her up. I felt so bad. It's so different to hear your baby cry when you know they are actually in pain. I got this picture this morning before removing her little bandaids.

My First Mother's Day

May 10th, 2009:

My internet has been down so i was unable to post these sooner. My first ever Mother's Day was great. The weather was beautiful. I awoke to Kyle asleep on the couch with little Aubrey on his chest. So cute. We went out to breakfast then stopped by REI and got me a bike helmet. I am super excited about that considering i bought a brand new mountain bike last summer. Now all i need is a trailer so i can take Aubrey along. After that we decided to drive out to Beluga Point since it was so nice out. I called Erin and Dane and they decided to join us. It was pretty windy out there, but we still got some great pictures. Then we headed to the park so our dogs, Hailey and Shelby, could run around. After that we went to my parent's house for our weekly Sunday dinner. Here are just a few of my favorite pictures from that day.

Little Swimmer

I finally got Aubrey to sleep so i can post this blog. Yesterday was tons of fun. I took Aubrey to the pool at the Alaska Club for her very first time. My mom came and acted as camera man. Aubrey did great and she looked so cute in her suit. The water was a little cold, but once i got her in i made sure to keep her moving. I was even able to dunk her head a few times. She didn't even cry once. I hope to continue taking her 2-3 times a week just so she is comfortable in the water. I went to school with way too many Alaska grown kids who didn't know how to swim and i do not want her to be that way. Now for my soap box moment...why is it that every one seems to think i do not know how to take care of my little girl?? Everyone always has something to say about how or what i am doing with her. I'm not an idiot. Maybe that's the problem with kids these days, their parents were probably so focused on what others were doing that they forgot to pay attention to their own kids. Ok, enough venting. Now for the pictures...

Goopy Eye

Today i took Aubrey in to see Dr Penman. You can't really tell by the picture, but she has been suffering from a goopy eye for the past 5 days or so. I was hoping to take her to the pool, but i wanted to get her eye checked out first just to make sure it's not contagious. Luckily it's not. Dr Penman said she has blocked tear ducts which he says 1/3 of babies suffer from. Besides that, she is perfectly healthy and is very "social" by her reactions. She weighed in at 10lbs 5ounces. Now that we have been given the ok, i am looking forward to taking her to the pool tomorrow!!

Giggles

Today little Aubrey laughed for the first time. All week she has been showing us a true smile, not just that random one for no reason. The first time she giggled i thought it might be a fluke. It happened this afternoon when only i was here to hear it. I told Kyle, but didn't want to make a big deal about it until she decided to do it again. Then tonight while she was sitting on my lap and Kyle was talking to her she did it not once, but two more times!! It was so adorable. It's amazing how fast she is growing and changing.
